I’m not sure how many of you will have come across this page without knowing who Paddy Power are, given their prominent and often controversial marketing exploits. However, I will still give you a brief overview of this always entertaining bookmaker. As the name suggests, Paddy Power was founded in Ireland in 1988 via a merger of three existing Irish bookmakers. With the reputation for being the most innovative company within the gambling industry, it grew as a company year on year and now has shops all over Ireland and the UK. Today most of their profits come from outside of Ireland. Aside from their shops, they have a strong online presence worldwide, as shown by them being the number one online corporate bookmaker in Australia.

As mentioned, Paddy Power definitely likes to get their name out there and have no issue when it comes to testing the boundaries of the Advertising Standards Authority. Their “PaddyPowerVideo” Youtube channel is well worth checking out if you are not familiar with some of their hilarious campaigns. They famously got footballer Nicklas Bendtner in trouble at Euro 2012 by sponsoring him to reveal his “Paddy Power Pants” having scored a goal from Denmark. I won’t spoil the rest of the fun for you but go check it out if you feel like having a few laughs. Their strong presence online doesn’t stop there. They are also very vocal on social media sites with very active Facebook and Twitter accounts, both of which come out with some controversial content on a regular basis. Paddy Power is credited with coming up with the innovation of money back specials in the sports betting industry, which have certainly given Mr Power a few nervous moments over the years.

The excitement of Paddy Power can also be seen in the poker industry. Paddy Power is the sponsor of Europe’s oldest poker tournament, the Irish Open. This is held over Easter weekend every year in Dublin, Ireland. Although the buy-in and subsequent prize pool have dipped a bit in recent years, anyone that has attended the event will tell you that it is far more than just a poker tournament. Aside from the prestigious tournament, you have different types of games all over the hotel from crazy golf to beer pong. In 2014 the final table was even held in a boxing ring! Along with the great fun, there is also great value to be had. If you qualify for the tournament via the Paddy Power Poker site you are automatically entered as a “Sole Survivor”. This is essentially a big last longest between all of the online qualifiers with the winner receiving €50,000 cash and entry into the WSOP Main Event.

Software / Colour Scheme / User Interface

Paddy Power has recently re-designed their poker room. They are still part of the iPoker network. You have all of the same functionality that you would expect from any skin on the network. Users have the ability to play up to 16 resizable tables with customisable features such as avatars, notifications, and decks along with many other table features to make you feel right at home on the site.

The colour scheme uses a mixture of greens along with a dark background and red buttons. This is arguably my favourite iPoker design. It is really easy on the eye, especially when multi-tabling. The brightness of the red buttons against the dark background on the table definitely draws your attention to it; therefore, you are very unlikely to time out even when playing multiple tables. The Paddy Power Poker logo embedded across the background of the table subtly advertises the site to you also.

iPoker as a network offers a wide variety of cash games, tournaments and sit & go’s. If you are looking for games outside of the norm why not try out their Speed Poker cash games, anonymous tables or their new Twister Poker 3 handed Sit & Go tournaments which offer an exciting twist with different jackpots to be won.

Mobile Option

Paddy power video poker tournaments Paddy Power also offers an excellent app that you can play poker on. This is very handy for those of you that may want to play a few quick Twister Sit & Gos on your commute to work or a few hands of cash games without having to log on to your computer. You have access to all of the same games and player pools. You can also check your balance, VIP status and check out which missions are available for you to complete. You can transfer money to your sports betting account or deposit / withdraw using the fully functional cashier section of the app.

Skin Specific Bonus Information

New players are encouraged to sign up to Paddy Power with a generous welcome package, the site is designed to make your virtual gaming experience like no other. Although a sign up bonus is certainly on the smaller side in comparison to what else you will find out there, it does suit the more recreational players. Overall, the bonus is a great way to get your poker journey started the right way at Paddy Power. For more information on the welcome offer refer to Paddy Power Bonus T&Cs. You must be 18 or over to play. Play Responsibly.

Skin Specific Loyalty Info

Paddy Power has launched a new VIP loyalty programme. This new system has seen them move away from offering tournament tickets and the like. You now just turn your points into cash and decide from there how you want to use that money. The new loyalty programme is a six-tier system. The entry level is Power One and the highest level is Max Power. Let's take a look through the system to see the benefits of climbing your way through the levels. Power One - as mentioned this is the entry level to the loyalty programme. There are no minimum points required to achieve this status. At this level, you will be earning a small but fair rakeback percentage. Power Two - very little chunk of Power Point (PP) is required to make it to this level. Any player that plays real money games will hit this level. At this stage, your rakeback rewards are slightly increased. Power Three - the third tier of the system doesn't require PPs per month. Again, this should be very achievable for any player playing real money games on Paddy Power. The reward for a Power Three player is, surely, higher than at the previous two levels. Power Four - as we move up the system it is now getting a little tougher to achieve the status. Players at this level need to earn quite a significant amount of PPs per month. But, at this level, your rakeback percentage is also evidently increased. Power Five - the penultimate level of the loyalty programme requires a huge lot of PPs. This means paying quite a bit of money in rake or tournament fees every month. Although this is a tough task for a lot of players, you will reap the benefits of a very nice rakeback for doing so. Max Power - this is the peak of Paddy Power's new loyalty programme. It is quite the task to earn high PPs per month by paying the cash in rake or tournament fees required. However, player's loyalty is rewarded at this level with a very attractive rakeback. Having studied this loyalty programme it is fair to say that is very competitive with the iPoker market. It really is a system of two halves. The first three levels are very easy to achieve, while the top three tiers can be quite hard to reach for casual players. Overall I am a big fan of getting rewarded with cash instead of tournament tickets or bonuses so this programme definitely suits me as a player.

Skin Specific Games

Paddy Power definitely offers these in abundance. The majority of which are aimed at the small stakes players, which makes it a great site to build a bankroll on. The main skin-only promotions they have are Paddy’s Pantsdown, Freddie Mays Bounty and of course the Full House Fridays $1k.

Paddy’s Pantsdown – This promotion involves a $1 tournament every night at 8pm from Saturday to Thursday. If you play in two of these during the week you will enter into a $1,000 freeroll and a $1.10 buy-in tournament with $250 added to the prize pool every Friday. This really is the nuts for someone with a very small bankroll with so much free money!

Freddie Mays Bounty – Every Friday at 9pm this takes place with a $10+1 buy-in. There is $100 added to the prize pool along with $100 worth of bounties! Who says poker isn’t fun anymore!?

Full House Fridays – At 8pm every Friday play in this. It is a $10+1 buy-in with a massive $1,000 added to the prize pool. In total that’s almost $2,500 donated by Paddy Power into the player’s bankrolls every Friday. You can’t say fairer than that!

There are also some fun games around such as free bet freerolls and a goal prediction competition throughout the football season.

With Paddy Power being the sponsor of Europe’s oldest poker tournament, the Irish Open, they obviously have a lot of satellites to it. Qualifying online via the Paddy Power skin means you are a sole survivor. The sole survivor is essentially a €60,000 free last longest between all of the online qualifiers.

Depositing / Withdrawing Info

For depositing/withdrawing, Paddy Power accepts all of the usual options: Credit Cards, Debit Cards, PayPal, Skrill/Moneybookers, Neteller, Bank Transfer and Cheque. The minimum deposit for each of these is €5. If you are lucky enough to live in a country with Paddy Power shops then you can deposit and withdraw with cash through them also.

Site Safety / Security / Reputation in Forums

Paddy

I mentioned earlier that Paddy Power is somewhat controversial in their marketing etc. but the opposite has to be said for their reputation in doing things right. Your bankroll is more than safe with such a reputable company. There is a close-to-zero chance that such a large operation will allow any silly mistakes in their poker room that could potentially damage their brand. With the poker room itself being based on the iPoker network, you don’t have to worry about cheating or anything like that. Collusion and such is taken very seriously.

Paddy Power Video Poker Player

Paddy Power has a great reputation across the internet. Along with their prominence on social media, they are also pretty active across poker forums. They have representatives on sites such as twoplustwo, the largest poker discussion forum, as well as irishpokerboards.com, where a lot of their Irish players would discuss issues.

Payment processing is very safe here. They have it provided to them by top banks such as Barclays, Elavon and Allied Irish Bank.

Customer Support

Paddy Power Ireland

Paddy Power offers great live support 24/7. Along with this option, you also have telephone and email options. Any experience I have had with them has been very helpful. One negative to it is that any problems you have with the software itself is most likely an iPoker network issue. The Paddy Power representatives will often only have the authorisation to forward on the issue to iPoker and will be reliant on them for answers to your questions.

Verdict

Paddy Power is probably my favourite site on the iPoker network. They just bring so much more to the network than just the basics. The fun ethos of the company really is shown through their poker promotions also. I really don’t see what more you can ask for in an iPoker skin. They are my recommendation for any player that enjoys some money added tournaments along with fun promotions.
